Etnies Salvador Barbier "Sal 23" in Brown / Gum
Skate Shoes
Originally released in 1994, Etnies reissues the signature Salvador "Sal" Barbier 23.
One of the original six behind Plan B, Salvador Lucas Barbier was a trailblazer in skateboarding
The first to ever land a Kickie to Boardslide on a handrail, and the originator of the ‘Sal Flip’, Barbier’s part in the seminal 1989 H-Street ‘Hokus Pokus’ contributed to an entirely new direction in skateboarding and video making
However it was the 1992 Plan B ‘Questionable’ and Sal Barbier’s infamous nollie front-foot flip in a pair of etnies high tops that got him the nod
Designed out of necessity, the original Sal-23 always was a hardcore shoe, taking skating to the next level, just as its namesake has done
Looking to reduce blowouts and the number of holes in his kicks, Sal set out to design a good-looking shoe, something that kept up with his style and hold up to the destructive nature of grip tape
Starting with an Ale Brown suede upper, these 90s sneakers are equipped with reinforced, protective rubber panels before the toe box.
The padded tongue, cupsole construction and the Etnies STI Foamlite inner soles complete the design. With custom embroidered branding, the Sal-23 is back, and ready as it always has been
